How the Auto Assign Feature Works

How Auto Assign Detects Images

Rubik analyzes multiple data points to understand which image belongs to which variant. The system uses:

  • Product name
  • Variant name or value (for example: Red, Mint Green, Large)
  • Image filename
  • Image alt text

Rubik compares these fields and assigns images to variants based on keyword matches and visual relevance.

How to Use Auto Assign

  1. Open your product inside Rubik Variant Images & Swatch.
  2. Go to the Assign Images screen.
  3. Click the Auto Assign button in the top right corner.
  4. Rubik will automatically pair your images with the correct variant options.
  5. Review the assignments and adjust manually if needed.

The Auto Assign feature in Rubik Variant Images & Swatch automatically matches product images to the correct variant options using smart detection. This helps you configure variant galleries in seconds instead of doing everything manually.

When Auto Assign Works Best

  • Your variants use clear names such as "Black", "White", "Green".
  • Your image filenames include color or variant terms.
  • You added descriptive alt text to your Shopify images.
  • Each variant has visually distinct images.

If an image is not assigned, you can always assign images manually by clicking Assign Images for each variant or run Reset and try Auto Assign again.
